The 07h30 Yoga practice is an important and very beneficial aspect of the fasting program. During the fast your body starts to release toxins quite rapidly. Yoga postures and breathing exercises accelerate the elimination of these toxins which may otherwise remain longer in the system resulting in side effects such as headaches, nausea and a general feeling of tiredness. |

The classes are preceded each day with "Pranayama" (breathing exercises) and a short period of meditation. Even if you have never practiced Yoga before coming here, we aim to provide you with a good understanding of Yoga and its benefits so that you can continue to practice at home in your daily life. We believe that you will benefit greatly on all levels: physical, mental and Spiritual. Pranayama
The Physiology of Yoga and Fasting Just as we expect our cars to depreciate in value with age, so we believe that our bodies will function less efficiently with the passing years never stopping to ask ourselves if this is really necessary. In fact, aging is largely caused by auto-intoxication. By keeping the body clean and well lubricated, we can significantly reduce the process of cell deterioration.
In recent years, medical research has begun to pay attention to the benefits of yoga. Studies have shown that relaxation in the Corpse Pose (Savasana) effectively relieves high blood pressure and that regular practice of asanas and pranayama can help alleviate the conditions of arthritis, arteriosclerosis, chronic fatigue, asthma, varicose veins and heart conditions.
One study of the effects of Hatha Yoga over six months demonstrated the following effects:

Throughout the program you will be given stepbystep instruction and we encourage you to ask questions and discuss any difficulties after class. Please remember that Yoga is absolutely non competitive. Anyone can practice - however, before starting, it is important to talk to the teacher about any physical condition which might affect your practice such as back injuries, high blood pressure, or glaucoma. The aim of Yoga is to be relaxed and comfortable in the postures and this takes time and commitment as well as patience! So remember, never force yourself into any of the postures, don't compare yourself with anyone else, listen to your body.and breathe.
